Anambra: Speeding Trailer Driver Kills Pedestrian in Onitsha

A female pedestrian, today, met her untimely death in a crash that occurred in Onitsha, Anambra State, while the other got seriously injured.
The Sector Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, SRC Florence N Edor disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen.
According to her, the fatal crash, which occurred at about 2 PM happened along New Parts, Down Flyover, Upper Iweka.
According to her, eyewitness accounts have it that the crash was as s result of over speeding and consequent loss of control.
The statement reads, "A fatal road traffic crash happened today 15th May, 2021 at about 1410hrs by New Parts down flyover.
"Unidentified driver of Foton Auwan Trailer with registration number KTU 477 XW while Speeding ran over a yet to be identified female pedestrian crossing the road.
"Eyewitness report indicates that the crash was caused by Speeding and lost of control.
"Two (2) persons were involved in the crash comprising of (1 male adult and I female adult).
"The yet to be identified female adult was rushed to Toronto hospital by FRSC rescue team from Upper Iweka Outpost and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and deposited at the same hospital morgue.
"The Sector Commander Anambra State C.C. Adeoye Irelewuyi sends his condolence to the deasesed family.
"He advised motorist especially articulated Vehicle drivers to desist from Speeding in built up areas to avoid knocking down pedestrian crossing the road.
"He also advise pedestrian to use provided pedestrian bridge while crossing the road."
