Anambra Internal Revenue inaugurates AIRSNEWS Editorial Team

By Daniel Obagha

Awka, June 11, 2020 (MOI) Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service(AIRS), Dr David Nzekwu, has directed the Editorial Team of AIRSNEWS to do more in educating taxpayers on the need to meet their civic obligations to Government.

Dr Nzekwu said this at Revenue House on June 9, during formal inauguration of the team.

``I urge you to do more in educating taxpayers on the need to see tax payment as a civic responsibility.

``As a Public Relations Department of the AIRS with responsibilities toward sensitising and enlightening Anambra people, there should be circumspection in the publications that we put out for public consumption.

``I encourage you to come up with high standard journal that will in turn improve the large tax audience,’’ Nzekwu said.

Head, Tax Education and Enlightenment Team (TEET) AIRS, Mrs Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige, said that the journal would be expected to take off in July.

``This journal is the brainchild of TEET and will be known as ‘AIRSNEWS’.  It is going to be produced quarterly.

``The aim of the journal is to aggressively sensitise eligible taxpayers in the state and engage them in a manner that will receive the desired behaviour from them,’’ she stressed.

Tochukwu-Ngige, who doubles as Editor of the journal added that the magazine would capture all activities as it concerned AIRS, tax and other matters related to activities of the Agency.

The editorial team members include Dr David Nzekwu as the Publisher, Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige as editor and Paschal Eme, the media aide to the chairman, AIRS, as member.

Other members are Daniel Obagha, Osita Nkwuaku and Somnulia Okeke.

Present at the ceremony include Head of Administration AIRS, Mr Okwuchukwu Obichukwu and Head of Collection and Assessment, AIRS, Mr Chika Oformata.
