Again, Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kills Scores in Ebonyi State
By Izunna Okafor
It was a moment of tears and wailing in the early hours on Monday, April 12, 2021, as suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked a village in Ngbo Community of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to eyewitness accounts, many allegedly lost their lives during the attack, and many houses of innocent indigenes of the area unremorsefully burnt down by the rampaging herdsmen.
It would be recalled that Ebonyi State Government, on Wednesday, last week, put modalities in place for the setting up of 1,000 vigilante groups across the state, as part measures to put a perpetual stop to insecurity activities in the State. Hence, it was shocking as the perpetrators defiantly launched the still-trending attack that left scores dead, many injured, and some others, homeless.
The attack, which has been described as unprecedented, affected Ebele village in Umuogodoakpa Community as some victims of the incident are presently taking shelter in the homes of some stakeholders.
Recall that herdsmen had attacked four communities in Ishielu Local Government Area where over 25 innocent rural dwellers were massacred in cold blood.
Although the Ebonyi State Police Command is yet to arrest, parade or prosecute any suspect in connection with the killing; the Ebonyi State Government has sworn to "fish out and deal mercilessly with the perpetrators".
