Imo Attacks and Unknown Gunmen: Police Arrest Two Northern Suspects
By Izunna Okafor
In the course of carrying out their mission of fishing them out, the Imo State Police Command has arrested two gunmen who are alleged to be among the unknown gunmen causing crisis in the state in recent times.
The two suspects, both of whom are from the north-western region, are identified as Godwin Danladu and Bamaiyi Gada, as was confirmed to newsmen in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State.
According to the police spokesman, items recovered from the suspects include AK-47 rifle and military uniforms, with which they were perpetrating their evil acts in different parts of the State and beyond.
It would be recalled that Imo State with adjoining South-East states has been at the centre of violence for months following unprovoked gunmen attacks on police and other security establishments which have led to confusion in the region.
These attacks culminated to the extent that most policemen deployed to the South-East states were deserting their stations, while some now preferred to go to work in mufti, for their safety.
The police spokesman further noted that the arrested suspects would be charged to court and lawfully dealt with, when investigations are concluded.
