Crime: Police Arrest 28 Suspects, Recover Charms, Dangerous Weapons

In furtherance of her ongoing fight against youth restiveness, thuggery, cultism and other forms of criminalities, the Niger State Police Command has announced the arrest of twenty-eight (28) youths suspected to be fueling and indulging in different forms of crime in the state.
The state's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, January 25, in which he also recalled that 32 suspects had been previously arrested in connection with the recent clash which led to the death of a businessman and a police officer in the state.
The statement reads in part, "In a continuous onslaught against youth restiveness, thuggery and other acts of criminality in Minna metropolis, a joint task force comprised of the Police, Military, DSS, NSCDC and Vigilantees launched an aggressive raid and house to house search on 25/01/2022 at about 0100hrs at Unguwar-Biri community area of Bosso L.G.A. and arrested twenty-eight (28) additional suspects.”
According to the statement, dangerous weapons and items recovered from the suspects include 8 knives, 9 cutlasses, 9 sticks, 1 wood cutter, 1 axe, 1 iron rod, 1 iron cutter, 1 scissors, 5 shisha pipes, 13 handsets, 17 sachets and 4 nylons of Indian-hemp, charms, clothes and slippers, among others.
The Police Spokesman further assured that “the operation will be continuous, to fish-out all the undesirable elements and street urchins, until the metropolis is totally rid of criminals.”
“All suspects are under investigation in SCID, Minna, and will also be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded,” he added.
On his own part, the State's Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas warned all troublemakers and criminal elements in the state to repent, pack out of the state or face the full wrath of the law.
