Anambra Young Writers Visit ANPC, Present Certificate of Appreciation

By John Gloria Oluchi and Valentine Muoma

Young writers in Anambra State, under the umbrella of Society of Young Nigerian Writers, SYNW (Anambra Chapter) have appreciated the Anambra Newspaper and Printing Corporation (ANPC), publishers of National Light Newspaper, Ka Ọ Dị Taa, Sportslight Xtra, and the MD/CEO of the institution, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, for their unreserved support to them in hosting the Chinua Achebe Literary Festival and Memorial Lecture over the years.

The group gave the commendation when they paid a 'Thank You Visit' the Corporation's headquarters in Awka, Anambra State capital.

Speaking during the visit, the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Izunna Okafor explained that the aim of the visit was to appreciate the MD and the organization for their regular support in hosting the event each year, to inform them that this year's edition of the event is around the corner, as well as to request the MD to be the Keynote Speaker who will deliver the Chinua Achebe Memorial Lecture at this year's event.

He said, "As we appreciate you for the ones done in the past, we also here to solicit your support, seek your advice, collaboration and involvement in this year's event .

After fruitful deliberations on the journey so far in preparation for this year's event, the group thereafter presented Certificates of Appreciation to the MD, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, and the ANPC.

Responding, the ANPC Boss, Sir Nnabuife appreciated the society for recognizing him and for giving him the privilege to be the Keynote Speaker at the 6th Chinua Achebe Literary Festival, which he accepted and assured to do in a most laudable manner; adding that "I feel very comfortable in your company, that is why you'll always see me whenever you are planing your event."

While expressing his deep admiration for Late Prof. Chinua Achebe, the great literary legend in whose honour the event is held; he said "Achebe is as great as any writer living or dead can be; and Achebe, to me, is one of the greatest of them all that ever lived, because he was not only a good writer but also a good philosopher."

He assured that he would always identify with the young writers and their event, and also reassured the organisation's readiness to continue supporting and partnering with them.

Other members of the association who joined the visit include: Franklin Ifeanyi Diala, Valentine Muoma and John Gloria Oluchi.
