Anambra: Two Escape Death As Cars Collide in Awka

It was literally miraculous, as two drivers escaped death in Anambra, as two vehicles crashed at the Amawbia Flyover axis of the Enugu—Onitsha Expressway in the early in the early hours of today
The crash involved two Seana cars, which were bitg badly damaged, as one ran over and hung on top of the other.
According to an eye withnesses, the accident occurred as a result of barricade positioned on one side of the flyover by a construction company working on the road without sign to notify road users on the blockage of the road.
Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, CC Adeoye Irelewuyi who visited the scene explained that the accident happened around 4am today with no casualty, apart from the injured drivers of both vehicles who were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
He harped on the need for adequate signs to always be provided by construction companies whenever on duty and also warned motorists to desist from using worn-out and over-speeding, especially in this period of rainy season, to minimize road crashes.
On his own part, the State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Afam Mbanefo who also visited the scene of the incident, reiterated the need for construction workers to always maintain community relationship with critical stakeholders before embarking on major decisions on construction works.
While appreciating God that no life was lost in the accident, the Commissioner also warned construction companies to always be careful while working on major roads, and to always put relevant signs, to as to let motorists know the situation of things and navigation on the roads.
