Nnamdi Kanu Celebrates 54th Birthday in DSS Custody

By Izunna Okafor

Biafran Activist and Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Saturday, 25th September, 2021, marked his 54th birthday in DSS custody.

Despite being in DSS detention, Kanu's followers and fans took to social media platforms to celebrate and wish him well.

It would be recalled that Kanu was extradited to Nigeria in June, and has been in the detention of the Department of State Service since his return to the country.

He is facing eleven-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, among others.

His trial, which was earlier slated for Monday, July 27, was stalled not just because of failure of DSS to produce him in the court that day, but also because the judges of the court began their vacation on that Monday, according to the trial judge, Binta Nyako.

Kanu's tial was thereafter adjourned till October 21.
