Hon. Paul Ezeobi Bags NYCN Award, Installed As Youths Patron

By Izunna Okafor

It was a well-deserved recognition and double honour, as His Youthfulness, Hon. Paul Ezeobi received a prestigious Merit Award from the members and Executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and also got installed as a patron of the Council in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The honour and installation were announced at a symposium, themed "Drug Abuse (mkpụrụmmiri, etc.) and Insecurity in Our Society", which was organized by the Nnewi South Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, under the leadership of Comrade Chukwudubem Okeke.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Occasion, Hon. Chuddy Atuchukwu (Obataifeadi) opened the participants' eyes to the various consequences and dangerous effects of drug abuse, both on the individual abusing the drugs, people around him, and the society at large.

While linking increase in crime and insecurity in the society to drug abuse, he explained anybody under the influence of hard drug can do many unlawful and unimaginable things, and even constitute a threat to the society.

Hon. Atuchukwu, who was also awarded and installed as one of the patrons of the NYCN at the event, therefore warned the youths to desist from drug and be positive-minded, so as to be useful to themselves and their families and contribute meaningfully to societal development, rather than being part of the problems to be solved in the society, because of mkpụrụmmiri and other hard drugs.

In his own reaction after receiving his own award and installation as a patron, Hon. Paul Ezeobi appreciated the Youth Council for organizing such wonderful symposium, which he said, would help to recalibrate the minds of the youths and also impact positively on them in diverse ways.

While appreciating them for finding him worthy of the award and installation as their patron, Hon. Ezeobi, who was the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Nnewi South Constituency 2 in the 2019 Anambra State House of Assembly Election, explained that he has been supporting and empowering the youths both before and after the election, even though he did not win the election. He also pledged to continue doing so, as according to him, youths occupy a very great position in his heart.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion include: the Transition Committee Chairman for Nnewi South, Engr. Chieloka Henry Okoye; member representing Nnewi South Constituency 2 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi; his Nnewi South Constituency 1 counterpart, Hon. Sunny Ozobialu; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters, Hon. Barr. Chinedu Ezekamba; the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Liaison, Hon. Dr. Charles Ebulue, among others.
