By Izunna Okafor, Awka
As part of its commitment to strengthening the spiritual growth of its members, the Anglican Church of Redemption, Awka, Anambra State has organised a soul-refreshing revival, with a call on Christians to make Christ the overall Head of affairs in their lives.
Themed "This Jesus", the well-attended event, which was originally planned to hold for three days lasted for only two days, due to tensed-up security situation in the state.
In his preaching at the event, the Speaker, Pat Ogbodo reminded the participants of the need to totally surrender and constantly follow Christ, detest sin and embrace righteousness, as there are numerous benefits in doing so. He also warned the congregation against doubting Christ's ability or surrendering partially to him, as God Himself loves absolute submission.
Scripturally highlighting the numerous benefits of totally surrendering and following Christ, he also reminded them that Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and advised that anyone who must Follow Christ must see and regard Him as such.
On his own part, the Vicar, Ven. Dr. Obiorah Alokwu, who explained that the event was aimed at uplifting the spiritual welfare of the congregation and preparing them for the Kingdom; also noted that the importance of such revival programs can never be overemphasized, especially in this present time. He further assured that the church will continue to organize such soul-lifting programs, for the benefits of its members.
The event, which was concluded with a divine (Sunday) service featured testimonies from the participants, worship and prayer sessions, as well as dulcet-cum-melodious praises that oozed from the members of the Redemption Gospel Band, who had earlier charged the environment with hot praises.
