Ebonyi Set Aside N1billion For Empowerment Of Widows, Youths, Less Privilege

Ebonyi State Government has set aside the sum of N1billion for the empowerment of widows, youths and less privileged and for the training of teachers in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Uchenna Orji, and Commissioner for Education, Dr. Onyebuchi Chima while briefing the newsmen on the outcome of the state Executive council meeting in Government House Abakaliki .

He disclosed that the sum of N500 million is for teachers’ training while the other N500million is for the empowerment of widows, youths and less privileged.

He further stated that another sum of N50 million was also approved by the state government for Gifted School, a special school which would train the best students harvested from various parts of the state.
The school vocational will take off with 200 students on 10th of next month.

“The state Executive council today approved the sum of N500million for the training of teachers. We are training them on the method of teaching after which we will organize examination for them to ensure they don’t only get the method of teaching but also specialize in the subjects they teach our children in public schools.

“A resolution was also taken and N50million was approved to harvest the best brains we have in our state as young as six and train them. They have a target goal to start school on 10th November 2019. Our target is that the school will start with 200 students”, Chima said.

According to Uchenna Orji who said that ministry of human capital development was critical in the economic development of the state and we are ensuring the aims and objective of the programme achieved that’s why Government making sure Ebonyi state take a lead area of empowerment.

“However, State Executive council also deliberated that about 142 Liaison officer will be appointed at least two person in different ward while one will be a woman representing, because Ebonyi state want Women to be part of the leadership training and by next month, there will be a lot of artisans commence in area of empowerment and educational vocation”. Orji said.
