300 More Youths Benefit from Anambra Fish Production Training
Over 300 youths have benefitted intensive business training on table fish production from the state government.
The beneficiaries were selected across the 21 local government areas in Anambra State.
Explaining the programme as coming in continuation of government’s one-youth-one skill empowerment scheme, under supervision of Anambra State Fisheries and Aquaculture Business Development Agency (FABDA), in collaboration with Table Fish Producers Association of Anambra State and State Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chain Innovation Platform (AVCIT), Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FABDA, Mr. Emeka Iloghalu stated that beneficiaries demonstrated mastery of their training, in both theory and practical sessions, as sufficient enough to empower them to train other youths in Anambra State to strong players in aquaculture as a lucrative sector of the state economy.
According to him, no administration had given aquaculture its pride of place in agricultural policies as the Gov. Willie Obiano-led administration.
This, he explains, showed the governor’s commitment to all-round-development of the farming sector beyond mere lip service.
A special guest at the training, Mr. Steve Okeleji called on beneficiaries to maximise the gains accruing from the opportunity given to them in order to become fulfilled fish farmers.
He commended Gov. Obiano for setting the pace and lauded the never give up spirit of the Igbo man, especially ndi Anambra and expressed belief that the participants will make it big in the industry.
Other resource persons in the training include Chairman, Cat Fish and Allied Fish Farmers Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, King-Boy Iheanyichukwu, Central Bank of Nigeria’s Head of Project Monitoring, Mr. Oyelade Babatope Olubunmi, among others.
