Two Die, As Another Explosion Rocks Ogun State

Barely one week after five persons were burnt to death and two pop others gravely injured at Ajilete area of the Owode-Idiroko road, Ogun State; another tanker explosion has occurred in the southwestern state, living two persons dead, with many vehicles burnt to ashes and scraps.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed this to newsmen in a statement.
He noted that the fatal tanker explosion, caused by an auto crash occurred at the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to him, six tankers, five trucks and two cars were also burnt in the accident, resulting to multiple damages in various forms.
He further revealed that many other accident victims were taken to nearby hospitals during rescue operations.
Firefighters were said to have put out the fire as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) cordoned off the area and directed motorists plying the road to use alternative routes.
TRACE spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, explained that the tanker ,which was laden with fuel, suddenly burst into flames affecting other vehicles.
“Vehicles moving inbound Lagos should go through Saapade-Ode/Remo-Iperu-Sagamu to relink Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“In addition, vehicles moving inbound Ibadan should also go through Sagamu-Iperu-Ode/Remo-Saapade to relink Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,’’ Mr Akinbiyi said.
