Trailer Driver Dies, Goods Damaged, As Trailer and Mercedes Benz Collide in Anambra

One person, a trailer driver met his untimely, with goods worth millions of naira damaged, following a fatal accident that occurred in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, SRC Florence N. Edor, in which she also noted that the crash occurred between an unidentified driver of a white Mercedes Benz 608 bus without registration and another unidentified driver of a white Shacmam Trailer without registration number.
The statement reads, "A fatal crash happened this morning 24th June 2921 at about 0855hrs by Ndikpo village, opposite Ken Maduako filling station Uli.
"The crash was between unidentified driver of a white Mercedes Benz 608 bus without registration and another unidentified driver of a white Shacmam Trailer without registration number.
"According to eyewitness report the crash was caused by Over Speeding and loss of control which led to head-on collision.
"Two male adults were involved in the crash. The driver of the Mercedes Benz 608 was rushed to hospital by the Nigeria Police team from Uli and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and his body deposited at Ark Angels Mortuary Uli before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Command. While the driver of the Shacman trailer has been handed over to Uli divisional police station.
"Rescue team from Ihiala Command are on ground managing the traffic which has been diverted from Owerri—Onitsha lane to Onitsha—Owerri lane due to obstructuction caused by the crashed Vehicles, along Owerri- Onitsha lane. Efforts are being put in place to remove the bus which completely blocked the road.
"The Sector Commander Anambra State CC Adeoye Irelewuyi sends his condolence to the deasesed family.
"He warn motorist to avoid over speeding, which usually leads to Traffic crash. Speed trills but kills, watch your speed and not your watch. He also advised drivers to plan their journey to avoid unnecessary speeding to meet up with appointment."
