Medical Doctor Flags-Off Construction Of World-Class Kidney Transplant Hospital In Nnewi

Nnewi, March 5, 2021 (MOI) One Dr Okey Chidolue on March 3, laid the foundation stone of a first Kidney Transplant Centre in the South-East geographic zone of the country in Nnewi.
It was learnt that the hospital, a private initiative of Dr Chidolue, who hailed from Nnewi, would be completed before the end of the year.
The hospital, expected to address all kidney-related problems including dialysis, kidney transplant would be the first of its kind in the region.
Located in Edoji, Uruagu-Nnewi, the hospital would be a boost to the rising medical prowess of Nnewi as a town.
The industrial city of Anambra State already has the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, which according to a former President, West African College of Surgeons, Prof Okechukwu Mbonu, the Southeast that lacked medical infrastructure in Nigeria in terms of addressing kidney-related diseases.
He had noted that incidences of the disease were high in the region. “The hospital is bound to help in fighting the ill-health,’’ Prof Mbonu said.
