Angry Mob Beats Another Suspected Phone Thief in Nnewi, Breaks His Skull

Few days after two persons were murdered and one person burnt to ashes in Kogi State over mobile phone theft; another suspected mobile phone thief was apprehended and nearly lynched by angry in Nnewi, the commercial hub of Anambra State.
The incident, according to reports, happened at a pharmacy shop near the Head Office of Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club House, along Nnewi—Nnobi Road, Nnewi.
An eyewitnes narrated that the 28-year-old man who gave his name as Godwin David (most probably a fake name) was caught red-handed stealing a mobile phone in a pharmacy shop. He was said to have gone into the pharmacy shop in pretext that he was sick and wanted to take treatment.
However, on sighting a mobile phone belonging to a customer who was receiving treatment inside; he suspect immediately 'moved' the phone, and set to sneak away, but was immediately caught by a young sales girl, whose eyes were unnoticeably googling around the entire area.
The suspect was instantly stopped by other patients and neighboring shop owners, as the sales girl raised the alarm. When they searched him and found the phone on him, they immediately descended on him and began to maul him inconsiderately.
Howbeit, as punches were being dosed out to him, some good Samaritans intervened and saved him from the hands of the mob, although with various degrees of injuries already inflicted on him and blood dripping from his head. He also sustained a broken skull.
David was rescued from the mob and finally handed over to the police, to take up from where they stopped.
