Alleged ESN Members Notify Anambra Community of Planned Attack for Disobeying Sit-at-home Order

By Izunna Okafor, Awka

A group of persons alleged to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) —a security outfit floated by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) —have allegedly written to Ukwulu Community in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, warning them of plans to attack the community, for disobeying IPoB's sit-at-home order.

The people of the community were gripped by fear when they woke up Sunday morning (today) and saw a notice pasted on a part of the community, warning them to respect themselves, to avoid crying 'had I known'.

The notice, all written in capital letters, reads: “RESPECT YOURSELF UKWULU ABOUT SIT AT HOME, TO AVOID CRYING HAD I KNOWN. WE ARE WATCHING YOU SINCE, AND YOU PEOPLE ARE DISOBEYING US BECAUSE OF DEAD NIGERIA.

“FROM MONDAY UPWARDS, DISOBEY US AGAIN AND HAVE YOURSELF (SIC) BLAMED. ESN IS COMING FOR YOU.”

Reacting to the development, Anambra State Police Community says it has deployed his men to the community, and assures the residents of adequate security.

The state's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, in a statement, said: “The Commissioner of police, CP Encheng Eworo has deploy police reinforcement team to Ukwulu community, and urges the residents to help the police with credible information aimed at identifying the bad elements among them.

“The CP calls for calm, while thanking the members of the public and the community for prompt circulation and calling the attention of the Police and other Security agencies.”

He further revealed that the command has beamed its searchlight on the community, and that the situation was being watched.

Reacting, some indigens of the community, however, have different views on the notice.

Some said it is unclear as to whether the said notice was actually pasted by the ESN, since IPoB said it has suspended its every-monday sit at home; hence, credit such notice to mischief makers who are bent to tarnishing IPoB's image and integrity.

A, however, said the notice must have come from ESN, as IPoB can go any extent to elicit compliance to any of its directive.
